Planning a Route to Avoid Motorways
To avoid the motorways, you need to set some preferences for your route planning. Navigate to Menu > Settings > Route Planning. Depending on the type and type of road, there are different rules that you can use to avoid motorways or toll roads. You can also choose to avoid specific areas. Simply tap on the “No Entry” icon to select the roads you wish to avoid.
Google Maps
There are many different ways to avoid motorways, and one of the easiest is by planning your route using Google Maps. To avoid motorways, activate the Traffic option on the map and set a speed limit to avoid toll roads. It is important that you know which roads are subject to tolls and which roads are free. To avoid paying tolls on highways, be sure to check the speed limit.
First, open your Google Maps app on your smartphone or tablet. Enter your starting and ending locations and tap the three dots. Tap Route options. Toggle on Avoid highways/tolls. Once the settings have been saved, you will be able to return to your map to view the updated directions. You can also add specific destinations and a different route to avoid motorways. If you are traveling to a distant location, you can use Google Maps to plan a route that avoids these highways.
Finding roads that bypass town
Before you drive in unfamiliar areas, be sure to study the roads and major interchanges. You’ll want to know whether a large city is nearby; most likely, it’s clearly signposted. If not, it’s easy to get lost if you don’t know the road numbers or what to look for. You will also need to know the names of major attractions if you are driving to an unfamiliar place.
To avoid highways, change your direction
Changing directions to avoid highways when planning your route is easy to do using Google Maps. First, open Google Maps and enter your starting and end locations. Next, tap the three dots to select Route options. Next, tap on “Avoid highways”, which will allow your directions to avoid highways and tolls as well as ferries. You can toggle this feature off and keep your route.
Google Maps can provide directions to major roads but you might prefer to avoid highways along the way. While the Google Maps API may help you avoid highways it does not replace local maps. It can also be helpful to identify which roads are best to avoid. For example, in California, you should avoid highways during rush hours, and you should avoid major highways at all costs.
